LIVING ROOM WITH FIREPLACE: PROJECT 7

REFURBISHMENT OF A LIVING ROOM AT THE DOORS OF MILAN, PHOTOS FROM THE FIRST AND PROJECT.

THE REQUEST

A gentleman writes to me asking me to make a project for his living room with a central fireplace trying to make it more modern , working mainly on furniture, walls and lighting, the rest  must remain  as it is (floor, lowering, windows).  He gave me carte blanche on everything. For the PC area , which was much appreciated, I made 3 different versions, with also an idea on how to close the stairwell (requested by the customer) to avoid unnecessary heat loss. A classic design example  extensions online.

LIVING ROOM REPORT WITH FIREPLACE

THE FURNITURE AND THE ARRANGEMENT

Given the size of this living room with fireplace  I tried to arrange the furniture equally , however it was well arranged. The table for example, the place where I put it, seems to have been designed for that, with the right space, near the French door that gives so much light. The relaxation area thus remains large and there is a large sofa that I would hold in the direction of the fireplace and consequently I would leave the TV there, and also a wall unit  which can act as a bookcase and container. Then I thought of a reading corner and a PC corner. In particular following the plan:

1 -  wall cabinet  width 297 cm h. About 220, modern and current, with closed parts and open parts for bookcase use, double use for practicality but also not to make it too heavy. The finishes of the structure are in white ash, the storage units are in glossy lacquered dark gray and glossy lacquered olive green. (recommended product mod. Atlante di Compas)

2 - sofa with chaise longue L = 280 cm D = 160 with raised feet, light stain-resistant fabric tending to white. (recommended product mod. Spirit of Samoa)

3 - I would keep the TV area here, I would add 2 8 cm thick plasterboard shelves in the niche which will then be painted in the same color as the fireplace.

4 - the table is extendable , when closed it measures 160x85 and is for 6 people. I thought of neutral finishes such as steel for the structure and transparent glass for the top. (recommended product Corona table by Juliagrup        http://www.juliagrup.com/catalogos/catalogo-comer/  ), chairs in leather or eco-leather or fabric with high backrest  (you see   http://www.juliagrup.com/catalogos/catalogo-basic/), for the chandelier the mod. Bolle di Febo, you can put on as many as you want and lengthen and shorten the cables at will        (http://issuu.com/febolight/docs/catalogo-febo-irilux)

5 - sideboard always in the style of cabinet 1 , this time low, suspended from the ground about 20 cm, glossy lacquered dark gray and white ash colors.

6 - PC corner , in the living room style of furniture 1 and 5, with desk sp. 6 cm attached to the wall on one side. Two wall units (one closed and one halogen) and 2 vertical bookcases with side LED lights complete the corner. Finishes ash white, glossy lacquered dark gray, glossy lacquered olive green. ALTERNATIVE: if we are close to the entrance it could be an idea in this area to put some storage cabinets for jackets and some service furniture (for example for keys, etc.)

7 - this corner could be dedicated to the reading area with an armchair with patchwork fabric and a floor lamp.
